The White House issued an executive order on this week establishing a new President’s Management Advisory Board (PMAB).  The mission of the PMAB is to provide advice and develop recommendations for the President and the President’s Management Council on strategies for implementing best business practices for managing and operating the federal government.  The Board will focus its activities on productivity, technology application, and customer service.  Operating within the General Services Administration (GSA), the PMAB will consist of 18 members, chaired by OMB’s Deputy Director for Management and Budget.  The president will appoint the other members from the private sector “who are qualified on the basis of a proven record of sound judgment in leading or governing large, complex, or innovative private sector corporations or entities and a wealth of to-level business experience.”  Members will serve without compensation for a period of two years.
