There is a requirement for object classification (OC) information to be submitted for appropriated funds at each cycle of the budget review: DON, OSD, and President's Budget. The information is also being used more and more often in budget decisions by the Executive and the Legislative Branches. FMO is undertaking a Navy-wide effort to standardize business processes that result in a financial event. This standardization has multiple benefits:  for individual commands it means improved efficiencies and ability to meet the demands of war-fighter support.  For the Department, it means eventual compliance with financial management laws and regulations, while improving audit readiness efforts.
