Why are ASMC membership dues being increased?
Membership dues are a vital source of funding for operations toward achieving our strategic goals and initiatives for both ASMC HQ and individual chapters. Increased dues will contribute to the expansion of national, regional, and local chapter professional development and education offerings; updates to the CDFM and CDFM-A programs; the transition to a new Association Management System – our first since 2007; and expansion of other national, regional, and local chapter professional development and education offerings.
When will my ASMC membership dues increase?
The membership fee increase is effective January 1, 2023; however, the actual timing of increase will not occur until after an individual’s membership “paid thru” date. See additional information below regarding membership renewal.
How much will my dues increase?
Individual annual membership dues will increase from $40 to $50 for one year and from $96 to $120 for three years – a savings of $30.
When was the last time ASMC dues increased?
This dues increase will be the first since 2017. Prior to 2017, ASMC had not had a dues increase in 11 years. That’s only two membership dues increases in 17 years.
Who is responsible for determining the dues amount?
The National Executive Committee, the ASMC Membership Department, and the ASMC CEO.
What if I recently joined ASMC or renewed my membership?
Recently Joined:
If you joined ASMC, for one or three years, prior to the 3 October 2022 announcement of the dues increase, and your current membership expires after 31 December 2022, your dues will not increase until your membership expiration date. ASMC will not bill you for a partial increase for any period of your membership after 31 December 2022, through the end of your membership period.
Recently Renewed:
If you recently renewed your ASMC membership for one or three years prior to the 3 October 2022 announcement of the dues increase, and your current membership expires after 31 December 2022, your dues will not increase until your membership expiration date. ASMC will not bill you for a partial increase for any period of your membership after 31 December 2022, through the end of your current membership period.
Can I renew my membership at current rates prior to 1 January 2023?
Current members of ASMC as of 3 October 2022:
If you were a current member of ASMC as of 3 October 2022 (prior to the 3 October 2022 announcement of the dues increase), you may elect (from now through the end of 31 December 2022) to purchase a “one time” renewal of membership (for either one or three years) at the current dues rate, thus extending your membership paid thru date for 12 or 36 months. You may renew at www.asmconline.org/membership/renew.
New members who join ASMC between 3 October and 31 December 2022:
New members who joined ASMC between 3 October and 31 December 2022 are not eligible for renewal of their membership prior to 31 December 2022.
I am a “Corporate Designee” member of ASMC. Should I renew individually?
As a “Corporate Designee” your membership renewal is aligned to the ASMC process for renewal of our corporate gold, silver, and bronze members, in which the corporate member designates and funds the individual memberships, thus you will not be able to renew your membership online. However, your ASMC “Corporate Contact” at your company may be able to renew your company’s membership early. To learn more, please reach out to your corporate contact directly, or contact Christy Ronaldson for assistance at 703-549-0360 ext. 119.
What are my current ASMC membership benefits?
For a full listing of current benefits, visit www.asmconline.org/membership/benefits.
What are the new benefits?
ASMC is in the process of implementing a new association management system that will provide many more services to members and chapters alike. The upgrade and associated data cleansing will provide a more effective system for interface with our members on both a communications and transactions basis.
The new system will also house your ASMC education history and simplify the process for claiming CPE credits: you’ll be able to quickly review which workshops and conferences you’ve attended, complete all necessary surveys, print certificates of completion, and review the number of CPE credits you’ve earned through ASMC events.
What is Engage?
Engage is an interactive forum developed by Higher Logic that enables members to engage and communicate with other members, connect with groups such as your chapter, budgeteers, accountants, auditors, cost analysts, and Directors of Resource Management, wherein members of each group can collaborate on subjects of interest, share resources, etc.
Microsites are for chapters which will allow chapter members to share documents, rosters, plan events, and even register for events; resource libraries will house the AFC and any other ASMC educational publications and materials to be downloaded and shared.
Engage is a mobile friendly site and easily accessible on a smart device.
Do I have to be a member to have access to Engage?
The full site is only be available to ASMC members.
Why is ASMC membership a good value?
ASMC has provided resources, tools, and opportunities that enhance the development and career progression of our membership while maintaining dues at a low rate. Membership dues are a vital source of funding for operations toward achieving our strategic goals and initiatives.
Membership offers the opportunity to obtain Continuing Education and Training (CET) units, which DoD FMers can use in meeting requirements to maintain their DoD FM Certification. With over 35,000 financial managers achieving their DoD FM Certification, ASMC’s local chapter and national professional development opportunities provide added value to the Department and to our membership in providing opportunities to obtain CETs, in meeting requirements to earn 40, 60, or 80 CETs every two years to maintain their DFMCP certification at Levels 1, 2, or 3.
Will the ASMC membership dues increase affect my CDFM certification fees or renewal?
No.
Can I purchase a lifetime membership?
Not currently. We are working to provide opportunities for new membership products such as 5- and 10-years members sometime in the near future.
Who should I contact if I have any questions?
If you have any additional questions, please call ASMC’s HQ at (703) 549-0360 or email membership@asmconline.org.
