The FY2015 federal budget will be submitted to Congress and the public on March 4, according to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). This is about one month after the budget after the budget is normally released, which is the first Monday in February.

However, this year the Congress did not complete action on the FY2014 budget until earlier this month. As a result, the annual process to finalize the administration’s preparation of the FY2015 budget was delayed.

With action on the FY2014 budget now finished, the administration can finalize the FY2015 budget, an OMB spokesman said.

Last year, the White House did not submit the FY2014 budget until April, citing the delay in enacting the “American Taxpayer Relief Act” and in the lateness of congressional action on the FY2013 budget. The White House submitted the FY2012 and FY2013 budgets one week later than the scheduled date.
