Government Executive named Mark Easton, DoD’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO), one of its "Chiefs of the Year" for his work in governmental finance.  The magazine cites Easton as one of the government’s chief officers from whom “peers have much to learn.”  He was named DCFO in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) in May 2009.  As DCFO, he is responsible for DoD financial execution, particularly in the areas of finance and accounting policies and management control systems.  Prior to becoming DCFO, Easton served as the Navy’s Director for Financial Operations, and was Director of DFAS Cleveland.  Before coming to federal civilian service, he retired as a Navy Captain after 29 years in the Navy Supply Corps.
