President Obama has named Dr. Jamie Morin to be Acting Under Secretary of the Air Force. Morin, currently AF Comptroller, will stand in for Erin Conaton, who recently was confirmed by the Senate to be DoD Under Secretary for Personnel and Readiness. He will serve in an acting role until the president nominates and the Senate confirms a new AF Under Secretary.
Morin will also continue to serve as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller, a post he has held since 2009. The Air Force announced that Marilyn Thomas, Morin’s current principal deputy, will take over many of the AF Comptroller duties.
Before becoming AF Comptroller, Morin served as a professional staff member of the Senate Budget Committee. From 2001 until 2003, he was a visiting Fellow at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, and a national Fellow in Public Affairs at the University of Virginia. In 1999, he served as an intern in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.
Morin is a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) and a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC).
