At the ASMC PDI in Minneapolis, MN in May 2011, the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) Robert F. Hale announced a new course based certification program for the DoD financial management workforce. Over the last several months a senior working group chaired by Sandra Gregory, OUSD(C) FWM has been working to outline this new program and begin implementation. Recently Sandra Gregory testified at the House Armed Services Committee, Defense Financial Management and Auditability Reform Panel on this issue. Additionally the Secretary of Defense signed a memo on Improving Financial Information and Achieving Audit Readiness, which includes the certification program for financial managers.
ASMC hosted an audio session on this topic with Ms. Sandra Gregory on October 13th. You can watch this recording of the presentation. Your comments below are encouraged.

Have there been any discussions on incorporating CDFM with the new DoD FM Certification Program? Has there been any talk about giving people any credit if they are CDFMs?
There have been approximately 20 test based certification programs which will be recognized by the new program, the CDFM is on that list.
Will 03XX employees who perform financial management as a substantial part or as all of their duties be required to become 5XX personnel? If not, will these employees be held to the same standards as 5XX personnel?
Does anyone know what are educational requirements for certification as a Comptroller in the Air Force?
